Born in Ballarat, Victoria, in 1956, David Larwill studied at Prahran College of Advanced Education, and Preston Institute of Technology, both in Melbourne.
He has exhibited solo since 1982, and his commissions include a mural for Australian Centre of Contemporary Art, South Yarra, in 1984, a design for the Rigoletto program for the Australian Opera in 1989, and a tapestry design for the new Esplanade Art Centre, Singapore in 1999.
His work apears in the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, several State Galleries, the Holmes a Court Collection, the New Parliament House, Canberra, and the British Museum in London.
